Fate says to the Sea Wolf: “You cannot withstand the storm.”
The Sea Wolf whispers back: “I AM the storm!”
Welcome aboard
Welcome to the fun and adventure of Sea Scouts, a program that combines the traditions of the past with the technology of the future. Whether you look to the sea for a career or lifelong hobby, Sea Scouts is for you. To join, you must be 14 years old (or 13 years and completed the eighth grade) but not yet 21.
The Sea Scout Ship Sea Wolf is run by the youth members. Elected officers plan and conduct the program. Being part of the vessel’s crew teaches teamwork. As experience is gained, more opportunities arise to contribute to the leadership of the unit.
Program
As a member of the Sea Scout Ship Sea Wolf, you will master operating our motor cruiser as you receive expert training in Boat Handling, Seamanship, Navigation, Rules of the Road, Safety, First Aid, Swimming, Sailing, Canoeing, Knot Tying and Line Handling. You will also learn about boat construction and repairs, diesel and gasoline engine systems and marine electronics.
In addition, you will have lots of fun! We cruise to Avalon, the Isthmus, Emerald Bay, Catalina Harbor, and other parts of Catalina Island. Our Sea Scouts have had Long Cruises of one to two weeks to the Channel Islands, San Francisco, and Sacramento. We also take harbor cruises, fishing trips, and whale watch cruises.
Who are Sea Scouts?
Sea Scouts is a program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 13 to 21. Visit the National Sea Scout web page for additional information.
For over 100 years Sea Scouting has promoted better citizenship and improved members’ boating skills through instruction and practice in water safety, boating skills, outdoor, social, service experiences, and knowledge of our maritime heritage.
Sea Scout units– called ships- are established across the country on oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. They provide limitless opportunities and exciting challenges that you won’t find anywhere else. Sea Scouts is a place to grow and learn, find adventure, and build long lasting friendships.
Our Vessel

Built for the Navy by Harbor Boatbuilding Company at its Terminal Island facility in Long Beach, CA, she served aboard the USS Samuel Gompers (AD-37). In 1995 she was acquired by the SSS Conquest in Long Beach and converted into a cruising vessel specially designed for a Sea Scout program.
She was transferred to the SSS Sea Wolf in 2019.
